Me too, thank you. I feel that I’m taking it in. I’m almost speechless. So, what a way to begin the interview, making me speechless.”

“I know you were homeless and you got back up and established yourself and helped so many people. What was that moment when you were homeless that made you make the decision that you’re not doing this anymore?
I was living in the Dallas, Texas public library in the late 1970s; that’s where I was homeless. On one level, it was great because they had a bathroom, water, air conditioning, and books. I’ve always been a book addict. You can see from my background, that’s not a green screen; those are real books. They’re part of my office and my collection. I was reading self-help books like ‘Thinking Grow Rich,’ ‘The Magic of Believing,’ and ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People,’ the great success literature. All of them emphasized what Brian Tracy was saying: that you have to make a decision and, in your terms, go all in. There is no second-guessing, no plan B, no surrender. You set a goal and go for it. I made a firm decision that I was changing my inner self. I realized that my beliefs were not serving me, so I changed them and went full steam ahead. I didn’t mean I’m an overnight success, right? I went with the idea that I’m not taking any prisoners; I’m going until I achieve this goal or die trying. The law of attraction isn’t really real.
You start pointing fingers all over the place and say none of this stuff works, when all of this stuff works. We know success literature works; we know decisions work; we know the secret works; we know the law of attraction works. What gets in the way is our unconsciousness. So the very first thing we have to look at is how do we feel about money. If people still think money is bad or evil or corrupting, then they need to look at that.

I’ve written lots of books, from ‘Attract Money Now’ to ‘Money Loves Speed’ to ‘The Awakened Millionaire.’ All of these books are my offerings to help people clear up their negativity. So I can tell you very quickly, money to me is like this pen. Is this pen bad? Is this pen evil? No, it’s a pen, but I can take it and I could probably stab somebody with it. That’d be bad. That’d be evil. I can probably write a check to you, or I can probably write the great American novel, I could write a song. I can write a manifesto that maybe awakens the world. Is it the pen or is it me? Obviously, the pen is nothing, the pen is a pen. It’s neutral.
Money is the same way. We get to use money however we consciously choose to use it. I think money is a wonderful tool for fulfilling our dreams, our life mission, and making a difference in the world. If you really care about pockets of humanity or homelessness or schools being needed in Africa or some other country, then make peace with money, and when money comes to you, direct it where you think it would do the most good.
So, that’s the first level, making peace with money. Money is neutral. That’s it. Money is neutral; it’s a tool. The second thing to look at is our relationship with ourselves. Most of us don’t feel we’re good enough. Most of us don’t feel we’re worthy of good things, so even if we decide, ‘Hey, money is actually good, and so I would like to have it come into my life because I’m going to do good things with it,’ if you don’t think you’re worthy, you will also sabotage, block, and prevent money from coming to you. In fact, you’ll prevent anything that you consider to be good from coming to you because you don’t think you’re good enough.
When I was homeless, anybody who is homeless or has been homeless knows that your self-esteem is flatlined. It is not there anymore. I do know I had my hope. I wanted to be an author, but my god I was suicidal, I was miserable. I was in the dark night as they call it of the soul, and it was not pleasant. So, I had to rebuild my self-image, and there are ways to do that. Part of it is just looking in the mirror and finding what you like and what you love about yourself and dwelling on that long enough that you start to well up with true appreciation. I’m not talking about an ego trip here. I’m talking about nurturing yourself, respecting yourself, finding the value in your life because you are alive. So, the short answer is when we make peace with money, and we make peace with our own self-worth, now we can allow those decisions to take effect. Now we can say I’m going to be more successful, I’m going to have a great business, or I’m going to be a multimillionaire, whatever it happens to be, we will have deleted the invisible blocks that were preventing us beforehand.
How do we delete that?

That’s good. You are immediately there with that question. It’s like, ‘How do I delete that?’ Which is the million-dollar question, and I will tell you, it’s the cornerstone of my work because I think it’s fairly easy for people to decide on what they want. Some people will say, ‘I don’t know what I want,’ but with a little bit of encouragement, they can select it, and some people can be encouraged to start appreciating money and themselves, but then they get to the point where it’s like, ‘How do I get rid of the negative beliefs, whether the negative beliefs are about myself or the future, or the economy, or other people? How do I get rid of it?’ And my work has always been, in the last 20 years, on helping people get clear. Getting clear means getting clear of the negativity, getting clear of the invisible blocks, getting clear of the paradigms, the mindsets, the self-sabotage.
So to answer your question, how to get rid of it? There are lots of tools. One of the first ones is awareness. When you get to watch a show like this, you are doing a great service to people more than you may realize. Because the people who tuned in to see you, watch you, and hear you might be hearing concepts for the very first time in their entire life. They could be sitting there going, ‘That’s right, my parents never taught prosperity,’ and it’s nothing bad about your parents. Nobody taught them. They’re very innocent. So, there’s nothing about blame here, there’s nothing about guilt, or there’s no pointing fingers here, but it is about awakening and awareness alone. When you watch a show like yours, you say the right thing, I say the right thing, and people start thinking differently. They go, ‘Oh, I didn’t know I could make a decision. Oh, I didn’t know I felt that way about money. Oh, I didn’t know that maybe I didn’t appreciate myself as well as I could,’ and with that awareness alone, they can change. The awareness kind of just pops the bubble of the black cloud, the dark cloud, and suddenly the light comes in. We turned on the light, so that’s the very first thing. The second thing is to challenge the beliefs.
You just did a beautiful job in describing some of the negatives. You said some people believe all the good ones are taken. Well, obviously, if you believe that, you’re not going to find a good one because in your mind you already believe they’re taken. So, what if you were to challenge that and go, ‘What if there’s seven billion people on the planet, and the good ones are taken? What if there are so many people, I could probably have five good ones. What if there’s no limit on the good ones? What if I could attract someone that’s so amazing, I wouldn’t even believe it?’ And suddenly, when you start challenging those beliefs, those beliefs start to dissolve. So that’s another way to get rid of it, is to challenge the beliefs.

Another way, and you asked me about the efficacy of it, another way is there’s no fixed timeline. It’s all about belief. Some people will listen to me today and go, ‘I got it,’ and they’ll have it and they’re on their way. Some people will take months. Some people will take years. Some people may never get it. It all depends on their belief. But what’s important is to keep at it because if you give up, then you won’t have it. So, it’s kind of like the whole idea of, ‘Well, when will I get it?’ You’ll get it when you believe it, and when you get it, you’ll look back and go, ‘Why did it take so long?’
There are techniques, by the way. There are techniques like tapping, which is the Emotional Freedom Technique, which helps to delete negative beliefs. There’s also a beautiful Hawaiian healing practice called Ho’oponopono, and I’m a big fan of it, which helps to delete the negativity. But you have to do it consistently. It’s not a one-time shot because the negative beliefs will come back, and you have to keep getting rid of them. It’s kind of like taking a shower. You don’t take a shower once in your life and go, ‘I’m clean forever.’ No, you have to take a shower every day. You have to clean up your negative beliefs every day. You have to clean up your doubts every day. You have to clean your fear every day. So, it’s a practice, it’s an ongoing thing, but it does work if you work it. It works if you work it.
Now, action is another part of the equation. Action is a big part of the equation. People think, ‘Well, if I just sit here and visualize money if I just sit here and do Ho’oponopono all day long, if I just sit here and meditate like a Buddhist monk for twelve hours a day, I should have money.’ No. Money doesn’t come from that. Money comes from action. You could be a great meditator, but if you’re not taking any action, you’re not going to have any money. In fact, there’s a famous story about a monk who meditated all day long and was very, very spiritual, and he was broke. At the end of the story, the other monk came to him and said, ‘You know, maybe you should meditate less and go out and make some money.’ So, action is a big part of it. You have to take action. You have to be willing to take action.

By the way, we all go through tough times. I’m going through tough times right now. I went through a divorce in the last couple of years, lost a lot of money, lost a lot of friends, lost a lot of things, and went through the COVID mess just like everybody else did. So, life isn’t always a bowl of cherries, but life is what we make it. I like to quote Seneca who said, ‘It’s all in your head.’ It’s all in your head. So, how you perceive the tough times is what makes it tough times or not. If you think it’s tough times, it’s tough times. If you think it’s temporary times and you’re going to get through it and you’re going to look back on it and laugh, you probably will.
So, in the end, what’s my legacy? My legacy is still unfolding. I’ve written over 80 books, and I’ve been in over 15 movies. I’ve got my work in over 20 languages, so I’ve had a lot of success and I’m very grateful for it, but my legacy isn’t written yet. I am in the process of writing my magnum opus. I’m in the process of writing the book that will define my life, that will define what I’ve contributed to the planet, that will define what I’ve contributed to the world. And it’s a big job. It’s a big job because I want it to be something that resonates long after I’m gone. I want it to be something that when people read it, they go, ‘My god, this is life-changing. My god, this awakens me. My god, this makes me laugh.’ So, that’s my legacy, and I’m still in the process of it, but I’m excited about it, and I thank you for having me on your show and allowing me to talk about this because, in the end, life doesn’t guarantee anything, but our attitude does.”
